전국통합뉴스 이만수 칼럼리스트 | 숨가빴던 베트남 일정을 마치고 한국으로 돌아온 지 일주일도 지나지 않아서 베트남 야구협회에서 초청장과 공문이 메일로 발송되었다. 베트남 야구협회 쩐득판 회장이 직접 보낸 메일이다.
내용은 오는 7월 28일부터 8월 1일까지 호찌민에서 제 1회 내셔널컵(National Cup) 야구대회가 개최된다. 작년 베트남 야구협회가 창설되고 처음으로 협회에서 주최하는 전국 단위의 야구대회이며, 6~8개팀 약 300여 명의 선수와 임원, 봉사자들이 대회에 참여한다.
이 대회 기간 동안 국제대회 참가를 위한 국가대표 선발을 할 것이며, 박효철 감독과 이장형 협회 고문이 선발위원으로 참석을 해 달라는 초청장이다.
베트남 야구협회(VBSF)에서 대한야구소프트볼협회(KBSA)에 보낸 공문에는 대회 지원에 대한 내용과 더불어 박효철 감독이 베트남 야구를 이끌 지도자로서 이번 대회의 선수선발은 물론 국제대회 참가를 위한 국가대표팀이 구성되면 초대 야구 대표팀 감독을 맡아줄 것을 요청하는 내용이 담겨 있다.
베트남 야구협회가 창설되고 코로나 펜데믹으로 인해 주춤했던 베트남 야구가 기지개를 켜기 시작하면서 급속한 속도로 야구붐이 조성되고 있다. 이와 같은 대회 개최, 국가대표 선발, 감독 선임까지 얼마나 많은 고충과 어려움이 있었는지 베트남 야구발전을 위해 노력해 오고 현재는 베트남 야구협회 고문과 야구지원단장을 맡고 있는 이장형 단장은 그 누구보다 잘 알고 있다.
베트남 야구가 한국야구와 동행하기를 바라며 어려움 속에서도 베트남 야구 발전이라는 순수한 마음으로 신뢰감을 유지해 온 결과이기에 감회가 새롭다.
베트남 야구협회에서 발송한 박효철 감독 초청장과 공문을 여기에 옮겨 본다.

Greetings from Viet Nam Baseball and Softball Federation.
Viet Nam Baseball and Softball Federation will host the National Baseball Clubs Championship, Viet Nam 2022 from 28th to 31st July 2022. This is the first Championship organized officially by Viet Nam Baseball and Softball Federation since its establishment. Viet Nam would like to ask Korea Baseball Softball Federation support and sponsor for the Championship and baseball development in Vietnam as follows:
- Dispatch a Manager namely Park Hyo Chul to the Championship to choose the best Viet Nam baseballers at the Championship and then training them for the international baseball competitions in the coming time. In case of forming Viet Nam National Baseball Team, he will take charge of coaching the Viet Nam National Baseball Team.
- Send 04 referees to officiating at the Championship by Korea Baseball Softball Federation ‘s costs.
- Donate balls and finance for organizing works of the Championship
